never die!

i love wearing glitter. deal with it.

also, i'm pretty sure i know who my friends are.

my sister and her boyfriend are looking out for me. good thing i've got a really solid pair on the job now. the undisputed expert on soulmates* is trying to find mine. because apparently i've given up...? whatever, that's fine by me.

*hahaha, all love, baby, all love.

all-black or all-american. only.

Oh, crap. Campaign coverage has just stolen Sam's trademarked term, "rogue," totally ruining its flair and its one-time, utter lack of present day connotations. Gone. Well, at least they aren't actually saying "rogue machine" yet. That would be beef. The day Gov. Palin is crowned "rogue machine" I Will Cry.

respect...

...for google's "extra large images" search results, in general. i just nabbed one of stephen hawking floating in some zeroG space-age thing: 3504 x 2336 pixels. no big deal. the size really takes the shot from just-plain-bizarre to extraordinarily bizarre. the poor man already looks like he has a bunch of problems (and he does), but here he looks like a mummy - at best. plus, i can see all sorts of ephemera wedged up in his brown teeth. i need to do something with this image (besides keeping it as my desktop background forever)...

normally:

(so bummed on life)

as a mummy:

(having a blast)

obviously, these were way more detailed before blogger shrank em down...

2. Opinion: Poor not to blame for mortgage mess
3. Gmail "Mail Goggles" stymie drunk e-mailing

10. The next big thing: Skydiving over Mt. Everest

i don't even know where to begin here. i mean, it is not as if we are without real news right now... what is the deal? who are they trying to reach with this stuff? me??

thoughts

2007 was probably the worst year of my life, thus far. so many bad things happened. a whole year later i still have a bad taste in my mouth about Fall in general. i turned into a miserly hermit for several months there, and i ended up famously calling my sister in tears one day after i realized that i hadn't had any physical contact whatsoever with another human being in 2-3 weeks. things got totally out of hand, and i ended up without any people i could talk to in my day-to-day life; my roommate and i didn't speak much/ever, all of my friends lived in manhattan (0r in different cities entirely) and were super stressed - like me, and texting really doesn't count at the end of the day. it was getting pretty real for a few months there. i did go out of my way to hang out with this boy a couple of times, but he ended up singlehandedly turning me off to humanity. good thing i don't give a fuck about him anymore and realize that only a select few people suck quite so monumentally as he does.

i am so thankful this fall is shaping up to be a completely different monster.
i am going on a date.

good day

some people drunk-dial or drive drunk; i drunk-shopping-spree-online-at-4am. all the time.
whatever. i can't wait for my shoes to arrive.

totally failed at my recent apparel/crafting project with eric. my clothes are now crunchy and reek of low-quality paint thinner. this is what i get for being the least authentic person out there.

two days til its go time

robert e. lee by j.c. leyendecker. oh, my god.

its cold outside. smells like apples and burning paper. in a few months i wont be able to smell anything at all.

i should thank the lord for each and every day that i don't have to earn a living as a web or graphic designer; i will curse the day that i need to start. i am so scared about the economy. i am so scared that the government is taking over. they are going to fuck this up worse than we did. usa number one.

i have a crush on

geoff mcfetridge. i saw the documentary Beautiful Losers earlier tonight, and i do have a crush on geoff mcfetridge (and his art). thanks for smiling!

also, its kind of, sort of, not really almost fall, so that means it's nearly time to bring back my alter-ego (maybe this is full-time me, but whatever) Layers Girl. but really it's just time to play dress up with my furs, flannels, and coats. you probably don't want to know what types of fur we are talking about so i will spare the details for those faint of heart...

school started up again, and i am back in action as full-time suck up. can't help it. it's my nature, no faking. it just works out really well for my academic success as a perk.

my evil twin on campus got a really great tattoo on the top of her foot. it looks really nice. very classic. i think it's a red and gold scepter or lantern. i had been thinking about the possibilities for such placement all week, and she goes and twins-out on me for the 1000000th time. fucking cunt.

missing some people more than others. it feels like checking in back down south is more of a chore than a conversation- no matter how inebriated i am. seems i can't get my shit together here in the city now; Everybody knows we'd be great. we know we'd be great, but we're nose-diving here. and i've run into someone i'm "Not Allowed to Hang Out With" several times now. getting ridiculous.

oh, and
death before edge.

just got home from a quick jaunt back home. the trip was filled with surprises. almost all of them good ones.....and yet, i am STILL not getting my hopes up about anything - even though we had one of the most peaceful hang-outs of our career

and i now know that i can drive for 8 hours without a problem. as long as i don't have to be a passenger for more than 15 minutes, the trip can go smoothly.

my grandmother very accusingly asked me if i was ashamed of myself because i dyed my hair so dark, and was excited to hear that some 93 year old we know died - because, as she put it, "we'll, i guess i beat her by a little bit." she is overall the feistiest 97 year old i have ever met.

i can still wear hats

thank god. nothing like getting pretty. i grew 5 inches after this haircut - cool, right?? proportions are awesome like that. fyi, locks of love would never have accepted my hair because of its extensive damage from over-processing. by the time i showed up to get it cut this morning, it was in such a state of disrepair that the stylist just laughed after trying to comb through parts of it...and just cut the rats nests out. and then told me i should have cut it sooner because it was "all kinds of thrashed." i swear to god she said that. she is cutting my hair from now on (especially because it cost $50 instead of the $150 i could have expected it to cost anywhere else in this godforsaken city).

side note: the phrase/word (?) "semi-erotic" is totally bizarre to me, yet, i still want to use it as often as i can manage. also, despite being an amateur grammar asshole (though, obviously, not while i am writing this blog...), i for some reason have no objection to the use of a given race as an adverb. Ex: he talks white; she dresses black; dana looks mexi, etc. while, at the same time, i have a conniption fit every time i hear someone utter "A whole NOTHER." it is pure foolishness. even more tragic are the times i hear news anchors and broadcasters in general slaughter the English language like that. see stuff white people like for more. it's an abuse of power. bleh. in a bit i'm going to go to the Barney's warehouse sale- or what's left of it.

nose-diving

losing my mind. more than usual. hair crisis reached critical point today - chopping it off tomorrow morning. several ex-boyfriends would not be happy to hear about this. fuck it, fuck em, it has to happen.

this decision was reached after i retail-therapy-ed my way through half of my bank account before noon today. and, no, i do not believe that cutting my hair will help derail my path towards hell, etc. I'm not That much of an idiot.

so, good luck to me on EVER BEING RECOGNIZED AGAIN. i do it to myself every time. every day.

ps. good title, leslie.

it's all your fault...

...i screen my phone calls!! no matter, matter, matter, matter who calls, i gotta screen my phone calls!!...

just saying.

yes

just look at this thing. the montauk monster can go fuck itself, cause this thing is so very much cooler.

just bought some cozies

i can't draw without my hand shaking. i mean, i can't stand there without my hand shaking. so shoot me if i accommodate. i hope this doesn't mean trouble come september, as i can't really drink beer in class. except in this one class.

on a related note, i got this assignment to draw a partially decomposed guy, and i would love for it to turn out very gore-y and campy and sick, but i know that it won't. and i'm sad about it- so much so that i might not go through with the thing.
